The Collateral Office is under supervision of the Bureau of Finance,Kaohsiung City Government. Its establishment can be traced back to as early as in 1928 acting as a governmental pawnshop then. In 1979, it changed to the current name with recommendations from the City Council.
The main business of this office is to offer small loans to the public against Rolex brand watches,diamonds or gold as collateral. It also regularly put the forfeited items for public auction.
In parallel to other governmental social services, this office adopts a low-interest policy on its loans in order to soothe the short-term financial need of the public.
